Forvis Mazars is seeking a Director with deep banking payments advisory experience to help grow and lead our Financial Services practice. This role is for an individual who has advised banks, payment networks, and fintech companies on payments strategy, digital assets transformation (stablecoins / tokenized deposits), and operating model modernization.
The Director will serve as a client-facing payments strategist, leading complex advisory engagements across retail and commercial banking payments, while also driving market-facing initiatives, business development, and team leadership.
What You Will Do:
Client Advisory & Engagement Leadership
- Lead banking payments advisory engagements, including cards, Fedwire / FedNow, ACH, RTP, SWIFT, digital wallets, and emerging payment & settlement rails
- Advise bank executives on payments strategy, modernization roadmaps, and regulatory impacts
- Translate complex payments ecosystems into actionable recommendations for executive stakeholders
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for select financial institution clients
Payments Strategy & Transformation
- Support clients through payments transformation initiatives, including:
- Payments and settlements operating model redesign
- Vendor and platform strategy (cores, processors, networks, fintech companies)
- Product and service innovation within transaction banking
- Help clients respond to regulatory, network, and market-driven change impacting payments
Practice Growth & Market Leadership
- Drive business development, including opportunity identification, proposal development, and solution shaping
- Partner with Financial Services leadership to expand Forvis Mazars' payments advisory footprint
- Contribute to thought leadership, go-to-market offerings, and external market visibility related to payments and transaction banking
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop engagement teams across multiple client engagements
- Review and oversee work products to ensure technical quality and consistency
- Serve as a mentor for high-potential managers and senior managers within Financial Services
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience delivering payments related consulting services to global Tier 1 banks and leading financial institutions
- Demonstrated expertise across banking payments & settlement systems and products, such as:
- ISO 20022
- Fedwire / FedNow
- Card payments
- ACH / RTP / SWIFT
- Digital and real-time payments
- Merchant and transaction banking services
- Proven success leading client-facing advisory engagements
- Experience supporting or leading business development and revenue growth
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA, CPA, or relevant certifications
- Prior experience at EY, Deloitte, PwC, or KPMG (or Accenture / equivalent consulting firm)

New York City Pay Transparency
Pursuant to the pay transparency laws of New York State and other local ordinances within the state including (but not limited to) New York City, the salary range displayed is for the New York markets. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Total compensation and benefits consist of salary, group health plan benefits, 401(K), profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave. Forvis Mazars reserves the right to make changes to the salary range based on business needs.
