Forvis Mazars, LLP is seeking an Assurance Manager at its Chicago, IL location.
Job Description: Carry out audit, review, and compilation engagements. Manage and supervise engagement teams on SEC audits and quarterly reviews. Effectively identify and evaluate audit risk, plan engagements, and executing the designed audit plan to ensure audit engagements are completed with defendable files and documentation. Effectively review engagement work papers prepared by Associates, Senior Associates, and others within the organization. Manage the implementation of new and emerging accounting standards. Provide clients with subject matter expertise in the areas of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Industry Accounting Practices. Demonstrate effective professional writing and communication skills through drafting and reviewing client deliverables. Effectively manage concurrent engagements (including planning, supervising, and executing projects) and meet deadlines without client and team disruption. Manage engagement fundamentals (e.g., realization, billing, utilization, leverage). Communicate frequently with clients and key stakeholders, ensuring that appropriate parties remain informed and involved in the project developments and conclusions. Develop a network of clients and industry resources and deploying marketing techniques to contribute to the growth of the Financial Services team. Assist in managing, developing, and coaching professional staff. Build personal referral sources and clientele while actively participating in team marketing opportunities. Participate in speaking and article-writing opportunities. Completing CPE specific to the financial services industry. Approximately 25% of the role involves travel to client sites, typically one week per month. Travel is more frequent during the first quarter and primarily within the United States, with occasional trips to Canada.
Minimum Requirements: Position requires a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, or a closely related field. Position requires five (5) years of financial auditing experience, any job title. Employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, or a closely related field and three (3) years of financial auditing experience, any job title. Position requires 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's/3 years of experience with a Master's with the following: Auditing publicly listed companies in accordance with local and international regulations; managing and prioritizing multiple audit and assurance projects, including tracking project timelines, managing budgets, and ensuring consistent delivery of services by established deadlines; managing multiple complex client engagements in the financial services industry, including planning, executing, and reviewing audit procedures; preparing and reviewing professional client deliverables, including audit reports, engagement letters, and internal documentation; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; recruiting, mentoring, and developing professional staff, including evaluating performance and delivering feedback; experience with financial statement audits conducted under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS); auditing mergers and acquisitions transactions, including due diligence procedures and purchase price allocation; accounting of complex financial instruments, including derivatives, hedging strategies, and factoring arrangements; experience in valuation methodologies for business combinations and intangible assets, impairment testing and valuation of goodwill and other intangible assets; audit of manufacturing and distribution sector clients, including inventory and revenue recognition testing; audit of clients in the service industry, including financial services entities; leading cross-functional and cross-industry engagement teams. Position also requires Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
Salary: $108,800.00 to $181,300.00/ year

The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek.
