National Proposal Team Intern Graphic Design | Charlotte, NC - 2237414

Charlotte, NC, USA

Posted within last 24 Hours
Description & Requirements

The National Proposal Team Graphic Design Intern will help support the visual materials, templates, and design processes used in proposal development. This is a 20-Hour-per-week role, so the intern will focus on a few priority projects at a time, with work assigned based on team needs, capacity, and learning value.

This is a good opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, creative, and interested in how strong design can make proposal materials clearer, more polished, and easier to use. The intern will gain exposure to proposal design, brand standards, presentation and document layout, and the way design supports a stronger experience for both internal teams and clients.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Assist with formatting, layout, and light design updates for selected proposal materials, presentations, templates, and related team resources.
  • Help apply established brand standards to ensure materials are clean, consistent, professional, and easy to read.
  • Support updates to reusable graphics, icon sets, charts, tables, proposal visuals, and other design assets used by the proposal team.
  • Review assigned materials for basic formatting consistency, spacing, alignment, typography, and visual quality before team review.
  • Help organize design files, templates, source materials, and reusable assets so the team can find and use them more easily.
  • Collaborate with proposal specialists, internal clients, and designers to understand project goals and identify opportunities to improve visual communication.
  • Assist with testing selected templates or design resources and capture simple observations about what is clear, confusing, or worth improving.
  • Participate in relevant team meetings, design reviews, and proposal discussions to learn how visual communication, proposal strategy, efficiency, and Unmatched Client Experience principles connect.
We are looking for people who have Forward Vision and:

  • Interest in visual communication, layout, typography, and how design helps make information easier to understand.
  • Comfort with basic design principles, including spacing, alignment, hierarchy, consistency, and readability.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint and Word.
  • Exposure to Adobe Creative Cloud applications, especially InDesign, Canva, Figma, or similar design tools, is helpful. Prior professional experience is welcome but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and follow established guidelines for brand, quality, accessibility, confidentiality, risk, legal, and approved content use.
  • Able to receive feedback, ask questions, and revise work thoughtfully based on team direction.
  • Reliable work habits, good time management, and the ability to manage assigned tasks within a part time schedule
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a college or university program is preferred. Relevant areas of interest may include graphic design, visual communication, marketing, communications, digital media, advertising, business, or related field.
  • Prior internship, campus, volunteer, or project experience involving design, layout, presentation development, visual storytelling, content organization, or marketing support is helpful, but not required.
  • No prior proposal experience is required. An interest in professional services, business development, marketing, proposal design, or visual communication is encouraged.
  • Applicants will be asked to provide a portfolio, class projects, or design samples that demonstrate their skills in layout, presentation design, visual communication, branding, or related creative work.
Learning Opportunities:

Through this internship, the individual will gain practical exposure to proposal design, brand application, document and presentation layout, reusable design assets, and the role design plays in business development support. The role is intentionally focused on a 20-hour schedule, so the intern can contribute to meaningful design projects while also having space to learn, ask questions, and build confidence with the team's tools and expectations.

Supervision:

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. The intern will receive direction, coaching, and feedback from members of the National Proposal Team and will work under the guidance of the Proposal Design Leader or another designated team leader.
